Lot 350		1817 N-6 R1 AU50. Sharpness very close to mint state but there are traces of carbon or dark crud nestled around LIBER as well as around a few of the letters in the legend on the reverse. Otherwise this cent is beautiful and the toning is a very attractive frosty tan and light brown. Nicely struck EDS with clearly defined dentils around both sides. Lot 354		1818 N-3 R3 Obverse Brockage G6. Sharpness F12 or better but covered with fine porosity. No verdigris and the only mark is a dull dent in the center of the reverse. Slightly glossy medium brown with darker olive brown toning in protected areas. This was an obverse brockage strike that was positioned slightly off center to K-7. The obverse was struck against the die but the reverse was struck against the obverse of a previously struck piece leaving an incuse impression of the obverse. Lot 356		1818 N-10 R1 NGC graded MS62 Brown. Frosty light greenish olive and steel brown. The highpoints on the portrait are a lighter shade of coppery tan. There are tiny ticks scattered over the cheek and neck and a small spot of darker reddish chocolate toning under ear lobe that can help identify this cent. Lot 362		1820/19 N-3 R2 Overdate Small 20 over 19 PCGS graded MS61 Brown. PCGS graded MS-61 Brown. Lustrous medium chocolate and olive brown with traces of faded mint red on the reverse. The only mark is a splash of slightly darker olive brown toning in the field from star 3 to star 5. Nicely struck and very attractive with solid mint state eye appeal. MDS. The 20/19 overdate feature is strong under the 2, weaker but still visible at the bottom of the 0. A beautiful overdate cent with just the faintest hint of rub on the highest points of the devices. Lot 364		1820 N-13 R1 Large Date NGC graded MS65 Red & Brown. Choice lustrous bluish steel and olive brown with at least 10% of the planchet showing mellowed mint color, mostly on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is outstanding. The only marks are a couple very light scuffs in the field between the chin and star 2 and a spot of darker toning under the O in OF. MDS with a die crack that meanders through the date and stars. Most likely from the famous Randall Hoard of mint state cents discovered shortly following the US Civil War. A relatively common variety in mint state but this is a very nice one. Our grade is MS64. Lot 365		1820 N-13 R1 Large Date PCGS graded MS65 Brown, CAC Approved. PCGS graded MS-65 Brown. Attractive lustrous tan and golden steel brown with traces of faded mint color remaining visible on both sides. No spots or stains, only a few trivial ticks of no significance. MDS, the usual Randall Hoard die state, with a die crack through the date and stars. A very nice example of a relatively common die variety (thanks to the hoard that was dispersed more than a century ago). Our grade is MS63. Pop 152; 28 finer, 4 in 65+, 23 in 66, 1 in 66+. Lot 366		1821 N-2 R1 PCGS graded AU50. PCGS graded AU-50 Brown. Choice glossy chocolate brown and steel with frost in protected areas. No defects, just light friction on the highpoints and microscopic contact marks, none notable. Nicely struck EDS with a diagonal die line left of the date. Our grade is VF35+, very close to EF40. Lot 367		1822 N-1 R3 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown. Frosty tan and light steel brown mixed with a few puffs of chocolate and olive brown toning on both sides. There is some underlying mint luster on both sides along with traces of dirt in protected areas. A spot of darker toning on the O in ONE and another under the N in CENT can help identify this cent, and both spots contain traces of verdigris or crud. The only other notable mark is a small struck-through line at the right side of the E in ONE (as minted). LDS with tiny lumps on the reverse from fine die rust. Lot 370		1823/2 N-1 R2 Overdate 3 over 2 VF25. Glossy dark olive brown and steel. The surfaces are smooth and a light rim bruise at ME in AMERICA is the only notable mark. LDS with minor crumbling in some of the dentils under the date and at stars 2-4. The overdate feature is sharp. A nice example of this popular overdate variety. Lot 371		1823 N-2 R2 PCGS graded XF45. PCGS graded EF-45 Brown. Very attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown. The surfaces are smooth and there are only minor contact marks. A light scratch between the lower points of stars 6 & 7 is a good identifying mark. Nicely struck MDS with a narrow rim cud break left of star 5 and a smaller one over star 6. A nice example of a date that is difficult to find in high grade. Our grade is VF30+. Smooth and attractive. The only notable marks are some tiny planchet flakes in the dentils over ED in UNITED (as struck). M-LDS. The obverse die is cracked and both sides show radial die flowlines.
